On August 1st 2013 shortly after 10:00am Trumansburg Police received a 911 call for an assault behind the area of 47 to 55 E Main St. part of the business district. The call stated one man had clubbed another with a 3-4 long club and there was severe bleeding. Tompkins deputies also responded to the scene. When police arrived the victim was being attended to by Trrumansburg ambulance inside Little Venice Restaurant. The victim did not know his attacker. Police officers searched the area looking for this White male mid 20′s. It became apparent that the suspect may have a connection to one of the female tenants in one of the neigboring buildings. Interviews were conducted and then a little after 2:00pm Trumansburg Police located the suspect in the females apartment where he had been hiding in the basement located under her apartment.
Trumansburg Police arrested Colin B Chapman age 28 of 3983 Church St Burdett (picture above) for assault 2nd degree, a Class D felony. He was arriaigned and remanded by Town Justice Dresser in lieu of $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond. He was taken to TC Jail where he made bail later that night. Chapmen had another court appearance in Ulysse Court Tuesday, his case is wating grand jury action.
